On the occasion of the patronal feast of the Church of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius in Periprava, Tulcea County, the reconsecration service of the holy church took place on 26 October / 8 November 2026.
His Eminence Leontie, Archbishop of Fântâna Albă and Metropolitan of All Orthodox Old-Rite Christians Throughout the World, officiated at this service together with His Eminence Paisie, Archbishop of Brăila and Tulcea, and a gathering of priests and deacons, with church chanters, local faithful and pilgrims also present.
The two holy altars hold a special place in the history of the parish. The first, belonging to the former small church, is 107 years old. The second, belonging to the larger church, is 90 years old and was consecrated 17 years after the first, following the construction of the larger church.
The reconsecration of the church in Periprava, performed on its patronal feast day, was an occasion for the community to gather in prayer and to remember those who, throughout the generations, preserved the Orthodox Old-Rite faith and ecclesiastical tradition.
